SUPER 1 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 AT LLANDOW

This week the team are off to Llandow near Cardiff to compete once again at this friendly club. Mike left there a week ago leading the Motors TV Championship, and would hope to come away next Sunday with a similar result. Following this weekend at Whilton Mill and his third place in the Motors Championship, Luke Caudle must be one of the favourites together with his former ARC team mate Martyn Lyell who was rapid at Llandow two weeks ago.

I don't mean to be rude by not naming all the top drivers, as I am sure that there are 20 more who I could name, which only goes to prove how competative and close we expect the six meeting to be. We will leave Wednesday night/ early Thursday ready for a full test day on Friday before the serious business starts. Unfortunately it won't be televised, but I trust Mr Lyell will take his trusty camcorder and load some film onto their website by Sunday evening.

Flying start to 2007 for National Champion

It’s been a better start to 2007 for British karting champion Michael Comber than it has Jenson Button.
The Honda Formula One driver had been expected to present 16-year-old Comber with his National Kart Champion trophy at the Auto Sport Show in Birmingham on Sunday but was unable to attend – due to an injury sustained while Karting himself.
Comber however has picked up that metre-tall award – something Button never achieved – to put next to his British Open trophy and TKM International trophy.
The Thrussington driver has also this week secured a place in the England Karting team for the second year and two new sponsors.
The trophies Comber holds will be on show in the offices of Leicestershire estate agents Andrew Granger & Co, his main sponsor this season.
At the awards presentation, Comber said:”This victory was down to a good team effort and consistent driving, which placed him on the front row in most of his races.
“Thanks to the commercial support from Andrew Granger & Co, we will attempt to win the senior title in 2007, but our main focus is the Motors TV Ultimate Challenge.
“I am a favorite to win and now I have works backing from Klaassen Motor Sport who produce the best engines available, it’s just down to my driving.”
Comber’s team is now hoping other local businesses can aid him brings more motor sport glory to Leicestershire.

In testing on the Saturday prior to the presentation on Sunday, Mike recorded the fastest lap of any competitor at the kart circuit at Kimbolton this season on his 2006 chassis. His new one is still at the factory in Italy, but should be here by the end of January and should be quicker!
